Cayo Saetia est une petite île d'à peine 42 km2 situés dans la baie de Nipe, province de Holguin à Cuba. Mais ce n'est pas une île comme les autres, elle fait partie du système national des zones protégées de Cuba. On peut y accéder par un pont-levis ou par les airs (hélicoptères).

Cayo Saetia c'est la savane africaine... à Cuba! des animaux d'Afrique ont été apportés sur l'île il y a plusieurs années et y vivent en liberté. Pour visiter Cayo Saetia, le mieux de prendre un tour guidé dans un Jeep. C'est ce que nous avons fait et ça demeure pour nous un moment fort de ce voyage à Cuba.

Imaginez! des antilopes, zèbres, cerfs, buffles se côtoient en toute liberté. C'est de toute beauté et l'environnement est tout simplement magnifique. Nous avons visité Cayo Saetia en février 2005. Pour nous y rendre, nous avons acheté l'excursion en hélicoptère (env. 15-20 minutes). Pour 69 CUC, il est possible de s'y rendre en autobus (1h30) pour arriver au port d'Antilla, on embarque dans un catamaran pour Cayo Saetia (1 h). Cliquer ICI pour voir le trajet de cette excursion. Ajouter 9 CUC et vous aurez l'excursion en Jeep pour voir la réserve. Sur l'île il y a un petit hôtel de quelques chambres et un restaurant surplombant la mer, c'est magnifique!

Cayo Saetia is a small island of 42 km2 located in the bay of Nipe in the province of Holguin, Cuba. This is not an ordinary island, this area has been incorporated to the National System of Protected Areas of Cuba. The access to Cayo Saetia is carried out by boat, helicopter or terrestrial transport through a small drawbridge that connects Cayo Seatia to the main island.

Cayo Saetia is the African Savanna… in Cuba! Animals of Africa were brought on the island many years ago and live in total freedom. To visit Cayo Saetia, it is strongly recommended to take a guided tour in a Jeep. This is what we did and that remains for us a strong moment of this voyage.

Imagine! Antelopes, zebras, deer, buffaloes among many others live in Cayo Saetia. The view is breathtaking and the environment splendid. We visited Cayo Seatia in February 2005. To go there, we bought the excursion by the air in a helicopter (approx. 15-20 minutes) . For 69 CUC, there is an excursion by bus to the marina of Antilla (1h30) then in a catamaran to Cayo Saetia (1h). Click HERE to see the map. For an extra 9 CUC, you can enjoy a ride in Jeep to visit the island. On the island, there is a small hotel and a restaurant overhanging the sea, it is splendid!
